UGM: Urban Growth Monitoring
Provides:
A set of indicators useful to support decision-making processes of spatial planning.
- LPI: indicator of the compactness of an urban area or vice versa of its fragmentation
- RPMS: an indicator of fragmentation
- ED: an effective measure of shape and complexity
- ID: ratio between the discontinuous urbanized surface and the total urbanized area
- Land consumption (%, ha): Annual percentage increase in land consumption, Loss of agricultural, natural and semi-natural areas

Makes use of: land consumption data produced by ISPRA.
Smart features:
- Migrating to satellite processes, enhances time availability, frequency of updates and ensures sustainability (secured by Copernicus) as well as scalability.
